Designed by Kombumerri artist Lann Levinge, this limited-edition AFLW Indigenous Guernsey tells the story of Jabreen, our creation being, resting at Jellurgal (Burleigh Heads), watching over the land, ocean and waterways of Kombumerri Country, the place we now know as the Gold Coast.
At the centre of the design, layered oval shapes represent the Kombumerri people, the saltwater and oyster people, with special recognition of the Levinge family. The radiant sun sits at the heart of the artwork, symbolising energy, life and spirit, empowering the next generation of SUNS players and strengthening their connection to Country.
The sand goanna travels across the shifting sands of Currigee on South Stradbroke Island, leaving a path behind him that represents the many journeys taken by players, supporters and communities who now call the Gold Coast home.
Finished with the names of past and present SUNS Indigenous AFLW players, this guernsey is bold, meaningful and deeply connected to Country. Worn by our AFLW team during Indigenous Round, it stands as a powerful celebration of culture, storytelling and connection.
